Treatment at CereCare Wellness Center for Children

CereCare uses a combination of Chinese treatment of Lyu’s Acupressure and western treatment of Conductive Education for the rehabilitation of the children who come to CereCare.

Lyu’s Acupressure is developed by CereCare’s Founder, Lyu Shun Ling who also has CP. While being rehabilitated, she learned from the acupressurists. It builds up the immune system and increases blood circulation. It reduces cramping and adjusts the internal organs of the CP child.

Conductive Education (CE) is a unique system of teaching and learning for children with cerebral palsy. It was developed at the Petö Institute in Hungary over 60 years ago. It is designed to improve motor skills and increase independence of many aspects of common living. Not a cure, but a method of exercises and education which are broken down into basic functional movements. The exercises are fully integrated into every part of daily life at the Center.

Many CP children who receive these treatments early enough can develop the control of movement, cognitive reception and language skills to enable them to attend normal schools. This is the great hope of those who support CereCare’s pioneering work in the treatment of cerebral palsy.

Treatment at CereCare builds the self-esteem, confidence and hope of children affected by CP. CereCare believes that CP kids can learn and attain achievable results physically, mentally and emotionally, using treatment methods that work for them individually.

The program is intensive, with Conduction Education and physical therapy sessions sandwiched between acupressure sessions individually tailored to the needs of each child. Qualified Conductors, physiotherapists and acupressurists provide patient, dedicated, skilled care. Residential counselors monitor the children 24 hours a day.
